Western New York Raspberry Mule
Sarah Neal: Associate Art DirectoR
Ahoy! Growing up, I spent many weekends at sailing regattas, which always supported the belief that it is “5 o’clock somewhere.” Those days have slowly slid into relaxing days on a pontoon or dock where the need for creativity often strikes to mix up a boat beverage that is refreshing.
One hot summer evening my fiancé and I decided to empty out our liquor cabinet and combined many of our favorite ingredients. What emerged was a beverage so delicious and refreshing, we suggest one or two serving because you might lose your sea legs.
- 1 oz. SKYY Dragon Fruit vodka
- 1 oz. SKYY Vanilla vodka
- 1 oz. New Amsterdam gin
- 1½ oz. Bacardi Black Razz rum
- 1 oz. triple sec
- ½ oz. raspberry liquor
- 3 oz. sweet & sour mix
- ¼ oz. simple syrup
- 12 raspberries
- 4 ½ oz. soda water or tonic
- Sprigs of mint
Place a mule mug in the freezer or fill it to the brim with ice so it chills while you prepare the drink. Muddle 10 raspberries* in the bottom of a shaker.
Combine vodkas, gin, rum, triple sec, raspberry liquor, sweet & sour mix, and simple syrup in
the shaker with the raspberries. Shake until
all the ingredients are well mixed. Discard ice
from mule mug and add fresh ice. Add the tonic
or soda water first and then strain beverage into the mule mug. Stir and garnish with 2 raspberries and mint. Enjoy!
*For extra fun, add your muddled raspberries to the mule mug for an delicious treat at the end! Also pour into a plastic tumbler, for boat rides.
This is one in a series of posts about our new project, called The Table—a cookbook full of favorite recipes, and the images and stories that go with them, from each member of the Brandtatorship team. From breakfasts to entrées, desserts to cocktails, we’ll be unveiling a new recipe every other week through the end of the year. So pull up a chair. We’re glad to have you.
