The Anvil V

In the blacksmith’s shop, the anvil is the constant. The anvil carries the heat of brute strength and fine touch of artisan nuance. It represents vision tempered by unyielding hard work. The anvil is the foundation on which every idea is forged from raw metal with a craftsman’s eye for quality, durability and functionality.

The anvil is more than our mark. It is a promise, to every client that comes into our shop, of all that the anvil stands for. It’s a commitment to helping them take charge of their brand and forge success.

In its honor here are 5 uses of the the anvil in pop culture: 

1. ACME - Looney Tunes

In the classic animated shorts featuring the Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner the anvil seems to be readily available to drop on the villains head far into the depths of the desert. 

2. A Knight's Tale "But neither has an anvil"

After his master dies, a peasant squire, fueled by his desire for food and glory, creates a new identity for himself as a knight. This 2001 movie features the late Heath LedgerShannyn Sossamon and a nice quote too.

3. Anvil - The Band

Anvil are a Canadian heavy metal band that hails from Toronto.  The formed in 1978 and they have been cited as having influenced many famous heavy metal groups, including MegadethSlayerAnthrax and Metallica. The band has released fifteen studio albums to date.

4. The Minecraft Anvil

In the computer game Minecraft the anvil can be used to repair tools and armor, enchant items with enchanted books, and rename items and blocks. And it looks sweet too.

5. The Greek God Hephaestus

The Greek god Hephaestus was the god of fire, metallurgy, and blacksmiths. Therefore, on his anvil, he had the honor of creating some of Greek mythology's greatest weapons and armor, including Hermes' helmet, Achilles' shield and that cute Owl Bubo for Perseus.
